Deep Water Ebb-Flow System

BATCH 2! After a 2 weeks hiatus, I'm starting Batch 2. Seeding of CR, GRL, GLL and RO. This time by seeding them first in a container of moist leca. The concept here is to germinate them in leca and then transferring the sprouts to pool noodle.  The washing of leca balls to rid them of algae is just too impractical for a home system. The noodles arrived today and I'm timing it such that with the sprouts, I should be able to set up my system this weekend.

Batch 1 Shutdown (88 days old) The system before Shutdown. Reason? The persistent "fungal" problem, shown below. No matter how often I trim off the outer leaves, the yellowing continues to propagate. As for the Lollas, browning along the leave stems are accelerating.  Red Oaks looks OK though. So it's likely the water is not healthy in some ways, though EC shows 1040. Didn't manage to measure pH.  8Mar update: A fellow UF member shared this site on leafy plant issues. Dengarden .
