Spring Cleaning Time!

Chinese New Year is just around the corner, and so out with the old and in with the new! Cleared all the remaining Cos and Butterheads, and seeded new pots of Cos using pelleted seeds!

Transplanted some BH to individual pots, thereby thinning the overpopulated pots. Adjusted the pots to the one nearest to the water outlet free, for measurements and topping up of ABC.

Thinned out the Lollas too, but kept a few healthier looking ones alone. Will thin again in a day or two once it is clearer which is the fittest.

Topped up with 10ml AB and 2L of water. Why just AB? Cause the Lolla looks a little yellow. Suspect that it's short of Nitrogen.

Rearranged the bottom Tier. to leave the BHs in a row, nearest to the front, and moved the basils and strawberry mints to the back, together with the GR microgreens.

A side story. Seeded some wasabi mustard Microgreens from Bootle's Farm.

YESH! My Yashponics Kit has arrived

The Eagle has Landed! And so here it is. Not exactly an eagle, but the Yashponic 4-tier black kit. After a short 4 days wait after placing the order for pre-existing stock, the box arrived yesterday, late evening. Time to be Bob the Builder Decided to start on the hardware set up today, since I am unsure how long it will take me. As shared in the videos put up by helpful Yashponics owners, it takes around 2.5 hours. The assembly videos are helpful. They gave me a good idea of how to start and the overall concept of the built. The whole process made all that easier, thanks to the numbered parts. And yes the whole kit is up and ready. Easy to set up? My Verdict... With the videos provided by Yash, the numbered parts, it's totally a breeze to get the whole kit up. Batch 1 - 7 Mar - System Shutdown after 88 Days

Batch 1 Shutdown (88 days old) The system before Shutdown. Reason? The persistent "fungal" problem, shown below. No matter how often I trim off the outer leaves, the yellowing continues to propagate. As for the Lollas, browning along the leave stems are accelerating. Red Oaks looks OK though. So it's likely the water is not healthy in some ways, though EC shows 1040. Batch#01 - 26 Jan - Day 47 (Wasabi Mustard Microgreens)

4 day old Wasabi Mustard microgreen What a sight greeted me as I removed the WM from my kitchen cabinet. Golden fields crew cut tops! A quick check with Benn from Bootle's assured me that this is normal and by leaving these babes under the light for 2 - 3 days, they will turn green. Apparently they are also good to harvest in 3-5 days. So under the light it goes. The GR mg are also coming along nicely. Leaves are growing bigger and better. Looking to a bountiful of mg this weekend. The 3 little Cos has sprouted too! 3 days after seeding. DATA EC1370 pH6.08 WT30 Water level: slightly above mid level.
