Sprouts! Day 6. Transfer into system.

6 days after seeding. 10 pots look OK.

A closeup look at one. It even has roots that has grown through the sponge and down into the net pot.

1 lil one seem to have dried out and wilted. Added some water and 3 hours later...magic happens!
Water...the source of life!

Those in the tray. 11 sprouts.
Interestingly, the stem looks thicker than those in the system.
Transferring the sprouts from tray to system and rearranging them by tier for easy tracking.

All BH on Tiers 1 and 2. Spaced out.
All GOL on Tiers 3 and 4, spaced out.

Pushed the sponges down into the pot to a depth such that bottom of sponge touches water level, water is topped to max. But not so deep so as to expose the gaps of the net pot thereby allowing pest and light to access the tank.

3rd Jan Bok Choi dinner

3rd Jan and its Bok Choi harvest round 3! Managed to stir fry this plate for dinner. Taste is still pretty much the same. Did not detect any hint of bitterness and neither is it fibrous. Now, on to harvest round 4, and the last?

YESH! My Yashponics Kit has arrived

The Eagle has Landed! And so here it is. Not exactly an eagle, but the Yashponic 4-tier black kit. After a short 4 days wait after placing the order for pre-existing stock, the box arrived yesterday, late evening.  Time to be Bob the Builder Decided to start on the hardware set up today, since I am unsure how long it will take me. As shared in the videos put up by helpful Yashponics owners, it takes around 2.5 hours. The assembly videos are helpful. They gave me a good idea of how to start and the overall concept of the built. The whole process made all that easier, thanks to the numbered parts. And yes the whole kit is up and ready.  Easy to set up? My Verdict... With the videos provided by Yash, the numbered parts, it's totally a breeze to get the whole kit up. Took my time to unbox the parts, lay them out (in other words, you need some space for all these), and put them together.  Only boo-boo along the way is that I forgot to rinse all the parts as advised! And since I'

18 Jan Bok Choi Harvest #4

And yes... after just 15 days, the BC are ready harvest again. Round 4! Sturdy green leaves. Rrally happy with the deep green look and feel of the BC. Harvested 2 large bowls from 12 plants from both tiers. There is very little wastage, just a small handful of yellowing leaves. And yes, into the wok they go for a big plate of BC stir fry with fish cakes, the family favourite. The before and after harvest look. And after... The bottom tier is showing good growth of White Crown Bok Choi. These are the slimmer and greener stem cousin of the BC. Growth is pretty fast too. Seeded on 31 Dec. EC kept to 1200. Looking forward a new batch of green for the LNY!
